How To Attract Affluent Clients Using LinkedIn

When was the last time that you updated your LinkedIn profile? Most people believe that LinkedIn is just a place to post their resume and proceed to leave it dormant for months and even years.

It is imperative to reach this rapidly growing community of over 57 million professionals (average household income: US $108,000), and find your potential client by a number of ways that I will share with you.

Before I share these LinkedIn golden nuggets of wisdom, it is vital to setup your profile to be 100% complete. There is a percentage bar that will show your profile completeness.

One area that kept my profile from being 100% was not having enough recommendations. Be sure to send LinkedIn recommendations to your past clients to complete your profile as well as to provide credibility for yourself.

Boost Your Website’s Internet Search Engine Ranking

It is also possible to setup your profile to be internet search engine ready so that your potential clients can find your business after a search. LinkedIn allows you to display up to 3 different websites.

Due to LinkedIn’s internet search engine ranking, optimizing the names of your website is key to raising your business in the rankings as well. Instead of displaying “My Blog” & “My Website”, click on edit and then click on “Other”.  Type in a keyword phrase that describes how people can search to find your business.

For example, I changed my main mortgage website to:

Foreclosure Options

I changed “My Blog” to:

Social Media Marketing

I changed my Facebook fan page to:

Facebook Marketing

This simple step can help to boost your website rankings by piggy backing off of LinkedIn’s internet ranking authority. Make it a goal to change this in your profile as quickly as possible so that your next potential client won’t land on your competition’s website.

Find Potential Clients Using LinkedIn Answers

This is a unique feature of LinkedIn that other social networks do not provide. There are various questions from multiple categories and as people answer these questions, they are listed as LinkedIn experts.

Let’s take this question for example. It is not shown in this picture, but there were 14 different answers to this question.  Why not stand out from everyone else with a complete profile and awesome recommendations?

LinkedIn also makes it easy to keep track of these questions. Instead of logging into LinkedIn every day, it is possible to subscribe to commercial real estate as well as residential real estate questions via your Google homepage or Google reader.

What an incredible way to be listed as an LinkedIn expert just by answering questions! So are you utilizing LinkedIn in your marketing efforts? What success have you had using this network? Let us know in the comments!
